![]() “I watched my mother do what she did best, and realized there would never be a way to cut myself from her entirely. I loved the medieval boyfriend.he added more to the story (for me) than Macon. Other than those two things, It was a nice story.Michael and Scarlett were great characters. You can see how that would be distracting. Oh look, Macons makin' bacon! Bacon, thank Macon for makin' you. Too bad.īy the way, WHAT SORT OF NAME IS MACON?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? It was so distracting.every time I read his name, I had to stop and think, "How weird is that name? Macon, Macon, Macon. Oh well, we don't read the books for the main characters anyway.we read them for the lead romance, right? The lead boys are always great characters, right? I've heard all about the bad boy boyfriend, the pregnant best friend, the writer mom, but I wanted to hear the story from the point of Cameron! How out of the blue would it be to read a story about a boy who moves into a new town and befriends a pregnant girl whose baby's father is dead?.(and perhaps is in love with her, but DOESN'T push a relationship on her?)īut, Dessen would not write that story, because she sticks to her own "personality-less main character girl who's secondary characters are much more 3-D" book genre. Scarlett has her baby, names her Grace Halley. This book was straight up Sarah Dessen (Queen of teenage girly books that all have the same plot but are somehow still good), but I was disapointed by the choice of main character. Then Halley has to break up with him, with her mom hating him andher best friend hating him it's just too much stress. Macon thinks she was just leading him on but realizes he is inlove with her. Halley decides to go the next step with Macon and has to get drunk first, but ends up getting sick and leave. Someone at school over hears Scarlett and Halley talking about the pregnancy, and shortly the whole school knows. Halley has a birthday dinner, and Halley sneaks out to the quarry with Macon and they do some stuff, Macon is always wanting to go to the next step but Halley not ready for it. On the day of the appointment, Scarlett decides against it, so she calls Halley and gets her to pick her up. Her mother finds out and books an appointment for an abortion. Shortly after that, Scarlett finds out she's pregnant, and tells Halley first. ![]() He kisses her, then her ex-boyfriend- Noah Vaughn sees them through Halley's kitchen window. Later that night Macon shows up out side of Halley's window and tells her about how he was there but he was in the attic so it was just a misunderstanding. Halley says how she doesn't deserve them. ![]() Halley and Scarlett sit out front of their house. Later that night they realized that Macon wasn't showing up. Macon invites Halley and Scarlett to a party, they accept the offer. They find out they have a class together, and she begins to develop a "crush" on him.
